Role Overview

Job Description

Vintage Base Camp is currently looking for Shop Assistant(s). The ideal candidate will diagnose, inspect, adjust, repair, or overhaul recreational travel trailers. May specialize in maintaining gas, electrical, plumbing, or 110/12 Volt wiring systems, applications and interior components

40 hours weekly 

Pay: $16.00 - $25.00 (compensation rate based on experience)

7 paid vacation days and 5 paid holidays

Duties

The ideal candidate will:

  • Trailer-related Duties:

    • Available for all drop-offs. Help with chalking, unhooking, etc.

    • Help move trailers

    • Polishing trailers

    • Washing exterior, cleaning interior of trailers

    • Gutting trailers, documenting, labeling and storing items safely in designated area

  • Shop Tool Maintenance

    • Make sure forklift has fuel

    • Dust all tools. Oil if needed

    • Drain the air compressor (let air out and drain water from the bottom)

    • Change filters on spray booth

    • Change light bulbs as needed

    • Clean and empty the shop vacuums and central dust collector

  • Grounds/Building Maintenance

    • Cut up old pallets and put in dumpster

    • Make sure the exterior of the building looks good. Straighten up and make sure it looks orderly.

    • Run the ground magnet to pick up metal debris in parking lot

    • Leaf removal and bagging

    • Gutter cleaning

    • Mow and weed-eat the grass

    • Power wash exterior as needed

    • Shop Interior Maintenance

    • Clean shop sink

    • Put up all electrical cords

    • Check furnace filter. Change if dirty. 

    • Straighten up all scrap wood and metal

    • Make sure floors are clear of tools, machines, jacks stands, etc. to make sweeping easier.

    • Sweep the shop floor

    • Make sure all spaces (shelves) are clean and organized

    • Make sure all tool areas and other cabinets, bins and spaces are organized (all spaces)

  • Office Maintenance

    • Take out all trash–shop/office/restrooms

    • Sweep/mop/clean the break room

    • Sweep/mop/clean the break room restroom

    • Sweep/mop/clean the shop restroom

  • Closing Procedures

    • Make sure all the trailers are locked at closing

    • Make sure forklift garage is locked at the end of the day

    • Make sure all garage doors are locked at the end of the day

    • Move items into the shop

    • Put tools away at the end of each day (as well as when they are lying around not being used)

Qualifications

​MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:​

  • Must be able to work outside or in an un-climate controlled environment.

  • Good hand-eye coordination.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to understand and communicate information.

  • Ability to read a tape measure and use various hand tools.

  • Willing to work weekends as needed.

  • Basic computer skills
