Project Overview

1989 Volkswagen Westfalia

Goal Zero Solar System
Added City Inlets and Shore Power
New WFCO Distribution Panel
New 12V and USB Outlets

While we have traditionally focused on vintage trailers and Airstreams, we do have some exceptions! With a soft spot in our hearts for a good VW, we welcomed this job with open arms! I could you not??

The owner of this fine example of #VanLife brought us this gem after visiting a car shop to take care of the mechanical updates and repairs, as well as a cabinet maker who did the fitting out of the trailer in a gorgeous maple. Our task was to take a basket full of parts, pieces, and components and get them to all work together seamlessly within the existing build and work to date!

First we removed the seats, original upholstered floor, and cab door covers to update all these finishes. New carpet and coverings securely placed, we moved on to installing the new fuse box and tying in all the new systems which included a new solar kit, water heater, diesel heater, electric ignition stove, water pump, and some new 12V lighting and USB ports.

We also plumbed up the new fresh water tank, sink, and installed the exterior city inlets, shore power, and an exterior 110W outlet.

When it was all said and done (including a thousand tiny details), it was a complete kit of awesome, ready to hit the road and adventure on! We look forward to having some more vans and conversions come through the shop soon, because we sure had a good time!
